God has provided us with free choice. He wants us to choose Him; choose to follow His commandments to have happy, productive, purposeful lives and relationships. Satan wants us divided from each other and from God. The enemy knows unity will keep him out. He uses every trick to keep us separated. He cheapens God’s priceless gifts to us. Satan studies our game plan and gives us what ultimately keeps us separated from God by feeding our pride, arrogance, and selfish desires, inciting chaos ensues. By dividing us Satan conquers. We have to remember behind everything visible and physical is something invisible and spiritual at work. We must choose to follow God in order to keep the “snake” out by:

1. Accepting God’s word as final authority in our lives. (Genesis 1:28) We must choose to submit to God; to be obedient to His authority and follow His will.

2. Accountability. (Hebrews 13:18; Matthew 18:20) In order to lead you first must be a good follower. Who are you following? Who have you given permission to speak into your life? Left to ourselves, we will be insensitive to our spouses and others. We need someone over us that can speak into our lives with wise counsel.

3. Access God’s Power in the Spirit. (Luke 10:19; James 4:7) Our personal power is inadequate to stop the snake. It is through God’s power and in His holy name that we are able to protect ourselves and remove the snake from our gardens.

Sermon Questions from April 24, 2011

During our Easter Service, Pastor Conway preached a sermon entitled, “Choose Right.” Here are the answers to the questions that we received:

Q: During the Easter service the pastor said that there is no purgatory, but isn’t that how it will be for the people left after the rapture for 1000 years?
A: The period immediately following the rapture is called the Tribulation. It will last for 7 years. Following the Tribulation will come a time called the Millenium. It will last for 1000 years. This is not purgatory. Purgatory is a doctrine of the Roman Catholic church that describes a sort of holding place between earth and heaven for those who have died. Read more…
